Standing
Peachtree is also one of the most significant historical sites in all of
Atlanta. It was a trading center and Indian village in the last decades
of the 18th century, a short-lived military post in the early 1800s, the
terminus for several trails and roads, and one of the earliest settlements
of Atlanta was in the Standing Peachtree area.
Design alternatives for Standing Peachtree
Park focus on recreational and educational opportunities. The park is one
of the most significant gateways to the river and includes a wetland, steep
topography, majestic hardwood forests, and striking vistas.
